Welcome to
RecycleBot Builders!
RecycleBot Builders is a robotics and coding program that empowers children to become the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers. It empowers young minds to think creatively and develop innovative solutions using reusable materials.
Our Approach
We take a holistic approach to STEM education, combining innovative thinking, creativity, playfulness, storytelling, and resourcefulness with social-emotional learning elements. This approach ignites a love for STEM learning in young minds, preparing them for future success.

RecycleBot Builders covers:
• Foundational coding
• Robotics
• Design
• The self-awareness
• The sustainability and environmental education
Children progress by completing projects and earning badges, building a portfolio of their work and demonstrating their growth and learning.
Why Focus on Children Aged 5-9?
Research has shown that early childhood education is critical for future success, particularly in STEM subjects. Children aged 5-9 are at a crucial stage of cognitive, social, and emotional development, where they are curious, creative, and beginning to develop their problem-solving skills. By focusing on this age group, we intend to:
• Develop a strong foundation in STEM subjects
• Encourage creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Build confidence and self-worth
• Prepare children for future success in STEM careers
How We Work
We partner with local schools and organizations to bring our program to children in their schools. We train Grade R to 3 educators in our curriculum, provide learning resources and materials, and deploy our trained STEM Educator Assistants to support program implementation in the classroom.
Role of STEM Educator Assistants
Our Educator Assistants are recent graduates who undergo specialized training to support schools in delivering the program. They play a key role in the successful implementation of the program by:
-
Supporting teachers in the classroom
-
Assisting with lesson planning and delivery
-
Ensuring schools have the necessary materials for coding and robotics
-
Providing individualized support to learners
Current Pilot Programme
In partnership with the Sarah Baartman district department of education, Industrial Development Cooperation, and other organizations, we are currently piloting our program in six schools around the Port Alfred area in the Eastern Cape. Our goal is to empower 600 children by May 2024.
